Newgen is a term specific to the Total Drama fandom which refers to people who became fans of the series after 2020. Newgen is almost always used derogatorily on hubs for TD fandom such as TikTok, and by primarily younger fans.

2020 was when the incredibly popular Roblox fangame for Total Drama, Total Roblox Drama, was released by Mojoue. The game introduced a new generation of fans to the series who otherwise wouldn't have been interested in it, and the fangame's popularity heavily influenced the fandom at large during the 2020s. With the unveil of Total Drama: Island (2023) in 2021 as the series' first upcoming season in nearly 10 years, the two combined made Total Drama as a whole surge in popularity online.

Although Newgen implies this divide was between these newer fans and fans who've been with the series by over 10 years at that point, this is not the case. People who use the term Newgen are almost always part of this new group of fans. When the term is used outside of TikTok, it's considered TD Tiktok "leaking" onto other fannish platforms such as Tumblr, Reddit and Twitter.

Most consider the term rude and gatekeep-y to a cartoon fandom which should be embracing these new younger fans, not shaming them.
