Margot Verger is a character in Thomas Harris' Hannibal book series. She also appeared the NBC series Hannibal.
Canon
Margot becomes a patient of Hannibal Lecter's following her attempt to murder her abusive brother. She learns that she must secure a Verger heir before she can make any further attempts on her brother's life.

Canonically Margot is a lesbian. So, her decision to sleep with a male character, Will Graham, in order to conceive a child was not received well by some fans. Margot and Will had discussed her sexuality before they slept together.

Some fans were annoyed by the lesbian seducing a man trope, with its implication that Margot's sexuality is a choice. Despite Margot implying she is a lesbian, some viewed this as an example of queer baiting and lesbian erasure. [1] Other fans were upset to see a woman deceive a man in order to get pregnant, also viewing this as a negative portrayal of a female character.[2]
