Lucy Carlyle is a main character in the Lockwood & Co book series and television show on Netflix.

Canon

The first book was published on August 29, 2013. It is narrated from Lucy's point of view; she's the focal character, along with Anthony Lockwood and George Cubbins (Karim). A few fics were posted in the first few years of publication, but fandom did not pick up steam until 2016.

Fandom

Most fic is posted on Archive of our Own. There is a fandom presence on Tumblr and Twitter, and a number of defunct and still-active Discord channels.

Shipping

Lucy is most commonly paired with Lockwood. Their common ship names were portmanteaus of their names, Lucewood during the book-only years, and Locklyle after the show's premiere. They are implied to be in a canon relationship in the books. The show seemed to be building towards the same conclusion, but was canceled after season 1.

Other ships include George/Lucy/Lockwood, Skullyle or Lucy/The Skull, Lucy/Norrie (show only), and Lucy/Holly (book only).

Tropes

Fics with Lucy often explore her family trauma, specifically her relationship with her mother, and how her hometown views her. Hurt/Comfort and whump are popular, especially with Lucy as the whumpee. Other popular tropes include Modern AUs, Mission Fic, and Found Family.

“Not to address the elephant in the room…” Kipps finally started. Lucy huffed.
"“I’ve told you, I’m not interested.” The last thing she needed was another offer to leave Lockwood & Co.
“Ah.” To her surprise, the tips of Kipps’ ears turned an unusual shade of pink. “No, actually. I meant- well…you’ve been crying.”
Fuck. Lucy bit back a groan. “Oh. That.”
Or, Lucy and Kipps realize they might have one thing in common: survivor's guilt.
A post-case celebration at 35 Portland Row leads into Lucy telling the story of her first kiss.
Lucy knew that she should stop. Or try to talk to him about it. But night after night, she can’t stop herself from crawling into Lockwood’s bed. Because wrapped in his arms is the only way that she is able to find sleep lately.
