Lil Hal is a recurring character in Homestuck. He is originally an artificial intelligence created by Dirk Strider when he was thirteen, in part utilizing Dirk's brainwave patterns from that time. During the run of Homestuck, he is often involved in schemes and plots in a somewhat chaotic, and both antagonistic and friendly capacity.

Lil Hal is not commonly shipped, but in fanworks is reasonably often involved with Jake English or various Stridercest ships. He is most frequently shipped with Dirk Strider.
Design
Though Lil Hal canonically resides within a pair of sunglasses, the fandom frequently creates humanoid designs for him. Common features in fan designs for Lil Hal include an android body, red circuits, and a black/red/white color palette. During [S] MSPA Reader: Mental breakdown, a sprite design for Lil Hal that is reminiscent of these fan designs appears, likely in reference to these designs.
