Laurie Salopek is an author of Forever Knight fan fiction. With Jean Prior, she created the mailing list [email protected] in 1992 for the discussion of the Forever Knight television series.
As Forever Knight factions began to evolve on list, Laurie identified as a member of the Cousins, fans of the character LaCroix. In January 1994, along with two other Cousins, Margaret A. Newman and John E. Dencoff, Laurie co-wrote "A Call to Arms", a story in which LaCroix summons the three of them to Toronto and orders them to torment Nick Knight's fans until they agreed to switch support to LaCroix instead. This instigated the first Forever Knight War, for which Laurie was the warleader: thus began the Wars that are so distinctive a part of FK fandom.
