In Canon

Marshal Jethro Waits is a side character in the video game Alien: Isolation. He was Head Marshal on Sevastopol Station during the Xenomorph infestation, and died during the events of the game.

In Fandom

Waits is largely ignored and/or disliked by the Isolation fanbase due to his role in ejecting Amanda Ripley on a detachable lab from Sevastopol in order to get rid of the Xenomorph (see the comments section of Part 9 of Markiplier's playthrough of the game). Most fanfics leave him one-dimensional and poorly developed as a character, while others don't feature him at all. Surprisingly, there haven't been any examples of hard Character Bashing in any fanworks featuring him. Recently, a couple of fanworks have been written to bring Waits into a slightly more positive light and explain his actions, and have proposed the fan theory that Waits is related to Aliens character Scott Gorman.
