Halloweentown is a tetralogy of Halloween Disney Channel Original Movies starring Kimberly J. Brown and Debbie Reynolds, featuring other popular Disney Channel Stars (Lucas Grabeel, Sara Paxton, Olesya Rulin, and others). They have the most long-lasting cultural impact and popularity of the DCOMs, but none of the individual films was technically "the most popular DCOM" in terms of viewer numbers at their premiere. They are, however, the only DCOMs that Disney licenses to other channels for airing, most notably Freeform for the 31 Days of Halloween each year, so they are accessible to people without cable TV packages. As of 2020, they are available on Disney+.

In Fandom

In 2013, Katie Heaney of Buzzfeed echoed the opinion of most of the Halloweentown fandom when she said that "the first three movies are one of the best things about Halloween," but excluded the fourth movie (Return to Halloweentown).[1] As franchise star Kimberly J. Brown did not return for this fourth installment, she was replaced by actor Sara Paxton, but most fans regard this as an unnecessary reboot rather than a continuation of the series, and sometimes refer to it as an alternate universe of the original trilogy.

Fans often create fan merch using a catchphrase said by Grandma Aggie (Debbie Reynolds) -- "Being Normal Is Vastly Overrated."[2][3]

The town where the movie was filmed, St. Helens, Oregon, is an October pilgrimage for many Halloweentown fans. The town hosts an annual Spirit of Halloweentown Festival to welcome visiting film fans to their downtown city center.[4]
