Glowfic is a genre of original fiction with roots in works of Alicorn and Kappa.
What is glowfic?The short answer is that glowfic is a genre of play-by-post text roleplay mostly characterized by its historical origins. It borrows certain tropes and quirks from a parent RP tradition (that usually took place on LiveJournal or DreamWidth) and the rationalfic genre (warning: TV Tropes link). Some of its defining/idiosyncratic features are, among other things: authors decided in advance (as opposed to anyone being allowed to join any threads), alternate universe versions of characters (original or not), heavy exploitation of magic, resourcefulness, ambition and hubris, suffering, and lots and lots of crossovers. Also so much shipping of everyone with everyone else, it’s amazing.

Glowfic, then, is the genre of RP that evolved from that and is very strongly influenced by rationalfic themes present in Luminosity, Effulgence, and Incandescence. Characters facing impossible odds and winning, running into the temptation of infinite power and taking it and leveraging it and turning the multiverse into a growing paradise, fixing every problem that there is to be fixed and conquering even the shadow of death.
And the Constellation’s a platform created by us and for us, with many handy tools Dreamwidth lacks, some of which are specific to the genre (like templates and alts). All glowfic since the mid/late 2010s has happened here, and even a lot of old glowfic got imported. This is where the cool kids are, yo.
