Ghost King AU is a common AU found in Danny Phantom and its associated crossover fandoms, especially DC x DP. A Ghost King AU sees a character, almost always Danny Fenton, acting as the Ghost King and ruler of the Ghost Zone.
Canon
Pariah Dark is the Ghost King in canon. In season two, Vlad awakens him from his eternal slumber and Pariah Dark proves himself to be a tyrant. Together with the efforts of other ghosts, Danny successfully defeats him and returns the Ghost King to his eternal sleep.
Common Trope Characteristics
The Ghost King is almost always decided via trial by combat in these AUs, Danny takes Pariah Dark's position by virtue of being the main person responsible for his defeat.
