Felix Leiter is a spy for the CIA in the James Bond franchise. He has been referred to as "Bond's favourite American" and is often portrayed as a close friend in canon and fanon.

Canon Overview

Books

Leiter was introduced in Fleming's first James Bond novel, Casino Royale, in which he is working with NATO. Leiter assists in Bond's case and is interpreted as a representation of Anglo-American relations at the time.

In the second novel, Live and Let Die, Leiter is kidnapped and fed to a great white shark, and as a result an arm and leg are amputated. When he returns in the fourth book, Diamonds Are Forever, he has a hook hand and a prosthetic leg, and is now a reserve agent without his gun hand. He now works as a private detective.

The John Gardner book For Special Services introduces Leiter's daughter, Cedar, who works for the CIA.

Movies

Comics

Dynamite comics published a miniseries in 2017 following Leiter as part of their James Bond series. In it, Leiter has a prosthetic hand, and is thus able to continue field work. The comics are the first solo story centered on Leiter.
