Fandalite Academy is a podcast by Bug and Cates, sisters who are both American grad students getting PhDs in social psychology and children's literature, respectively. The first episode was posted in April, 2018, but Bug and Cates had been working on it for seven months and said in their announcement that the show was prompted by "Bug’s paramour," who thought they should record their long, frequent conversations.[1]

The description on soundcloud reads:

Welcome to the Fandalite Academy, your source for all the psychological and literary theory behind Animorphs that you neither wanted nor needed. We post episodes on alternate Sundays, so tune in once every two weeks to hear us gush about Animorphs.[2]

The podcast focuses on one book at a time, using each book as a jumping-off point to discuss a topic as it relates to both the book in question and the series as a whole. Each episode is 30 minutes to an hour and starts with a spoiler warning for the whole series as well as trigger warnings for the episode in particular and the series in general. Warnings include discussions of torture, suicide, dissociation, and genocide, especially because Cates' research for her PhD in Children's Literature focuses on "depictions of trauma and recovery in children's fantasy novels"[2] and Animorphs is much heavier on the trauma than the recovery.
