DarkLordPotter.net (DLP for short) is a website started in 2005. A large part of it is forums dedicated to discussing Harry Potter fanfiction. The community curates lists of recommended fanfiction by genre. As the name suggests, the community tends to prefer fanfiction with Harry born/going dark or at least grey. The site has sub-forums for other fandoms such as Naruto, and for original works.

Some sections of the website are available to registered users only.

The website hosts Scryer, a search engine originally for Harry Potter fanfiction with filters based on tags, pairings, etc. It later expanded to support other fandoms.

History

Zev started the forum, PMed a bunch of us on FFN. I was the first person to join and was granted admin status -- a bunch of the early folks were granted admin or modships. Zev was running DLP on his machine in Sweden, and I had dedicated server space, so I offered to host DLP instead. Zev had military service to do, and drifted away while we kept DLP going.

Work By Author

The DLP forums have an exclusive section called "Work By Author" where readers need to have some engagement first to be able to read some of the works posted there. The section allows writers to post early drafts and receive feedback to polish them before publishing it for public consumption. Some readers tried to evade the restriction by excessively asking around at other forums, which lead r/HPfanfiction to restrict meta posts about DLP.
