Cole is one of the main characters of Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu. He is one of the six main Ninja, known as the Black Ninja or Earth Ninja. He is also the Elemental Master of Earth, granting him power to move the earth as well as related abilities, such as super strength through his Lava Arms technique. He starts out as the de facto leader of the ninja, though that position is soon taken over by Lloyd. Outside of his role as a leader, Cole is the rock of the team, grounding the other members and keeping them on track.

Fanon/Common Tropes

  • Oni/Part Oni Cole: this trope stems from Cole's ability to survive the dark mist of the Oni invasion in season 10, which turns all non-Oni into frozen statues. While he is only exposed to the mist for a short period of time, this led fans to speculate that he had Oni heritage.
  • Dad Cole/Parental Cole: Due to Cole taking care of Master Wu in season 8 and 9, when he has been de-aged into a baby, many fanworks place Cole in the position of a parental figure to other characters. This trope has become more common after the release of Dragons Rising Season 1, Part 2, where Cole was shown taking care of two children and a teenager, and presumably had been for several years.
  • Families of Choice: Cole has two canonical families of choice: the Finders in the Land of Lost Things, and the Ninja.

Example Fanworks

Fanfiction

  • Meet Again by northpen on Ao3. A Cole-centric story in which he and Zane have outlived the other ninja by thousands of years, only for them to find their old friends reincarnated into a new life.
