Criteria for inclusion?

I like this category, but I would say that I'm a bit dubious about including pages like Chengxian and WangCheng in here when they have their own fandom category, MDZS. This could easily become cluttered if we include every page about everything related to C-Media in here, so maybe we should have some criteria about what kind of pages belong in this category?

Because this category is called C-Media Fandom (and is a subcategory of Fandoms by Community), part of me thinks we should just include pages about fandom (fan activities, fan terminology, fan communities) and not the actual fandoms themselves (like Guardian (webseries)), because those seem like they would belong in a hypothetical C-Media category, which would be a subcategory of Fandoms by Canon Type. But I'm interested in hearing other people's thoughts on this.

If we do keep including fandoms in this category, should we also add fandom subcategories here, e.g. Category:Mo Dao Zu Shi? That seems like it would be logical. --enchantedsleeper (talk) 22:28, 14 August 2021 (UTC)

Agreed on the fandom-specific shipping pages not belonging here. I added subcategories for all the specific c-media fandoms I could find on fanlore and removed this category from pages that are in the subcategories. At this point there still aren't very many pages, so having them all in one place is useful, even if it sort of breaks the rules. I am not wedded to this arrangement though.
I was looking at some other country-specific categories, and Anime and Manga seem to be outliers. We kept pages about anime fandom in general under Category:Anime & Manga Fandom (under Fandoms by Community) vs. fandoms for individual animes under Category:Anime (under Fandoms by Canon Type). However, for live-action tv we didn't keep things separate: Category:J-Drama Fandom, Category:K-Drama Fandom, and Category:TW-Drama Fandom (Taiwan) are under Fandoms by Community, but contain any fandom pages about individual TV shows. That's not necessarily a problem since we have a ton of pages about anime fandoms and not very many about K-dramas, etc. I'm not sure we have enough pages yet, but it might help to create some medium-specific Chinese categories to match what we did for South Korea and Japan: Category:C-Drama Fandom, Category:Manhua, Category:Donghua, or potentially Category:C-Pop Fandom. I am undecided on whether this is overkill.--aethel (talk) 23:37, 21 August 2021 (UTC)
Thank you for doing that, aethel! It does make sense to have that distinction for anime/manga because we have so many pages - so maybe we could look into separating out the categories for J-Drama, K-Drama etc. into fandom-as-activity versus fandom-as-text when there are more pages.
Similarly, I think we could probably keep C-Media Fandom as all one category until we have more pages to warrant individual medium categories, and then split it up? --enchantedsleeper (talk) 16:43, 22 August 2021 (UTC)
Returning to this discussion because I was thinking about our lack of a category for danmei; would Category:Danmei be a good "medium" subcategory for C-Media Fandom?
This would be a different kind of subcategory to manhua, donghua etc. but could potentially span those categories (because it could encompass both the novels and their adaptations) and would also be helpful for including terminology specific to danmei, I feel? --enchantedsleeper (talk) 00:13, 24 December 2022 (UTC)
