VCR vids are vids that were created using a VCR (which usually was a consumer-quality VHS recorder, but could also be a consumer-quality Betamax, or a professional-quality VCR, like those used in TV studios in the 70's, 80's and 90's.
VCR vidding was the process of creating vids using VCRs, i.e., analog methods, rather than digital ones. (See also, Digital Vidding.)
Vids were created using VCRs from the early 70s through the early 2000s -- 2002 was the first year that conventions recieved more vids on DVDs than they did on videotape.
