Scrooge McDuck, also known as Uncle Scrooge, is a popular Disney character who originated in the comics. He is Donald Duck's extremely rich Scottish-born uncle. The character was named after Ebenezer Scrooge from A Christmas Carol.

History

The popularity of Uncle Scrooge often eclipses that of his nephew Donald Duck.

Before working for Disney professionally, Don Rosa contributed fan art and an articles about Uncle Scrooge comics to fanzines, such as Fandom Annual #3 (1972).[1]

Common Pairings

In canon, he's usually paired with either Glittering Goldie, or in Italian comics, Brigitta MacBridge. Especially the first pairing in very common in fan works. Hinted at in Don Rosa's comics, and a popular notion in fandom, is that Scrooge will eventually set aside his fortune and return to the Klondike to spend his final days with Goldie. AUs in which they remained together are popular too.
