Origin Story

The Keptverse began as a CWRPF story by poisontaster, A Kept Boy. Poisontaster started posting the story as a WIP in 2008 and completed it in October 2010 with a total of 88 parts posted.[1] The story is an RPF slavefic AU, set in a dystopian near-future where slavery is legal and compulsory in The Empire, a fictional nation coextensive with present-day North America. The main focus of the story is Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who acquires a body slave, Jensen Ackles.

A second series of stories in the same shared universe, A Question of Compromise, was begun by darkrose and features SGA RPF characters. This series is centered around a married couple, Jason Momoa and David Hewlett, who acquire a new body slave in Joe Flanigan.

Shared Universe

The Livejournal What We Keep community was formed on October 1, 2008 to allow for other works written in the Keptverse to be collected in one place. The community is open and works have been written exploring the ideas of the Keptverse with a wide variety of RPF characters. Some of the works are archived at the AO3 in the collection What We Keep.

Unlike many slavery AUs, the Keptverse is realistic in tone, rather than being merely a fantasy story. The setting is a fairly plausible near-future where slavery is based on economic and class divisions. The ownership of body slaves (sex slaves) is mandatory, and most stories in the universe delve into the consent issues around owners, both willing and not, and their body slaves. Most stories, including the two founding sagas, contain many elements of kink and BDSM.

The universe has its own canon, set out in a FAQ post. The community also has many meta discussions about the verse canon and how it relates to our own world.
