Silent Faction is a Qui-Gon/Obi-Wan story by Kirby Crow and analise (53,000 words). The story came with the warning in header: "Heavy story ahead. If you don't like a real plot with extra characters and things going on that are not directly related to 'gettin' the boyz in the sack', turn back now."

Summary: By the time Master Qui-Gon is sent to investigate Knight Kenobi's suspicious activities on the mining moon of Ramos V, he and his former Padawan have been estranged for 4 years. When they finally meet again, Qui-Gon discovers Obi-Wan has a new life, a new home, and a new love...

Recs and Reviews

"Slash, Qui-Gon/Obi-Wan, also Obi-Wan/f. The authors warn that this one has a real plot, though I see this more as a strength... It is a couple of years after TPM, Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon are both alive, but estranged. This story paints a vivid picture of an alien society on the mining moon of Ramos V, and it is one of the rare stories, where they really get to be Jedi, complete with alien societies, diplomacy, conflict and the Force."[2]

"It is one of THE most memorable and well written Q/O stories I've come across. I like everything on the TOTO (The Obi-Wan Torture Oasis) site, because I love to see Obi-Wan suffer, but this one is my favorite. I always admire writers who can create a whole world and make it believable, especially when the plot revolves around mystery and political intrigue. At the heart of Obi-Wan's existence there is a terrible lie, and he has wrapped himself with more lies, like layers on an onion, which begin to peel away once Qui-Gon re-enters his life. The story just drips with angst, yet the characters behave as dutiful, self-sacrificing Jedi throughout. And of course ... will I spoil things if I tell you that I like happy endings?"[3]

This extraordinary tale is a must-read.

Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan have been estranged for four years, then are reunited on the mining moon of Ramos, where Obi-Wan has come up with a secret plan for the future of its warring factions. Qui-Gon has been sent to check up on him and realizes that his former Padawan has lied to the Order about conditions there.

They are both consummate diplomats, and it's wonderful to see them verbally sparring with each other, as Qui-Gon tries to ferret out all of Obi-Wan's machinations.

Then there's the personal relationship between them. Both men have never gotten over their love for each other, but there's an obstacle course in front of them in order to regain lost trust and previous intimacy.

Will Ramos survive its political turmoil? Will Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan reconcile? You're in for a fascinating read to find out.

Outstanding! [4]

Angst, plot, h/c, love and lust, this story has it all. It’s probably one of the most prominent stories in Q/O and definitely one not to miss! This story does not follow the canon events of the prequels.[5]
