I Will Survive is an infamous Zootopia webcomic created by borba, and the first in a series. It features Judy Hopps/Nick Wilde. In the comic, Judy Hopps discovers she is pregnant and decides to get an abortion.

In early December 2017 the comic was widely spread, with many mocking the approach the comic took to the issue of abortion rights. While many accused the comic of taking an "anti-abortion" stance, Borba has denied the comic was written to push a pro-life agenda.[1]

On September 30th, 2018, Borba posted the first page of the "I Will Survive" sequel, titled Born to Be Alive.[2] On April 11th 2020, he posted the cover page for the third part, Never Say Goodbye. On October 11th 2021, he uploaded the first page of a short bonus comic titled Never Say Goodbye - Extra.[3] This last comic also became somewhat well known, as it focuses on Judy surviving what resembles a JFK assassination attempt.

History

On March 17th, 2017, Borba uploaded the first comic in the series to DeviantArt, in which the anthropomorphic rabbit character Judy Hopps discovers she is with child after using a home pregnancy test.

Over the next two months, Borba released an additional 24 pages of the comic on DeviantArt, in which Hopps and the anthropomorphic fox Nick Wilde argue over whether they will keep the baby, with Hopps expressing concerns over the safety of an interspecies birth as well as the effect pregnancy would have on her career. Wilde, argues in favor of keeping the baby, leading to a dramatic break up between the two characters.

Spread and Meming

On June 1st, 2017, YouTuber ZPD comics uploaded a [https://www.youtube.com/embed/C_GRqInUwJI full slideshow of the comic.

That day, the comic was featured in an article on the fandom blog Zootopia News Network.[4] On December 6th, 2017, Gavia Baker-Whitelaw tweeted "well folks i just found out about the pro-life Zootopia fan comic, so that's me done for the day." with a panel from one of the comics in which Nick pleads with Judy about her "unborn child."[5]Within 24 hours, the tweet gained over 4,800 likes and 2,000 retweets.

On December 7th, Tumblr user Dismal-Dragon posted a "Distracted Boyfriend" meme parody of the comic, in which Wilde looks on Hopps' imagined hybrid rabbit-fox offspring from the comic. Meanwhile, Tumblr user ibrokemyotherone posted a "Scroll of Truth" edit based on the comic.

Also on December 7th, Borba responded to a comment on DeviantArt,[2] claiming that the comic was not meant to be interpreted as pro-life.[6]

It's also been pointed out that Nick and Judy's apartment seems to resemble that found in Seinfeld.[7]
