Amanda Tapping is an English-born Canadian actor, producer and director.
She is most well known in fandom for playing Samantha Carter on Stargate: SG-1 for ten years (1997-2007) then continuing to play the character for several more years as a regular/recurring character on Stargate: Atlantis, and a guest star on Stargate Universe. She has directed one episode of Stargate, and several episodes of Sanctuary so far.
In an example of fannish drift, many Stargate fans followed Tapping to her SyFy series Sanctuary. She is the executive producer of the show, and also stars as Helen Magnus - the main character in the series.
After the end of Sanctuary, Tapping went on to appear on Supernatural in a reoccurring role of Naomi, an angel.
