Marvel Studios is the current name of a subsidiary of Marvel Entertainment. From 1993-1996 it was known as Marvel Films and in both incarnations, it is a production company known for creating and producing live-action and animated versions of Marvel Comics and their characters.

Since 2008, it is mostly known for creating the successful Marvel Cinematic Universe, however it is also responsible for the plethora of animated and live-action television and movie releases known to fans of the franchise, including X-Men: The Animated Series, which introduced young people to the comics and was responsible for the surge in the fandom in the 1990s and 2000s.

Due to the miscellaneous licencing agreements Marvel Comics made in the 1990s, there are as many fandoms as there are properties and so making global statements about the Marvel Studios fandom is difficult. However, with the advent of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2008, Marvel Studios had become a broad identifier - or target - for fan commentary.
