Mars is a commander of Team Galactic who debuted in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. She, along with Jupiter and Saturn, follow Cyrus' orders in the game in hopes he can recreate the world with the Pokémon Dialga and Palkia. Over the course of the game, the player must repeatedly thwart her plans, leading to her final defeat and disbandment. Mars is most commonly seen in fanworks with her fellow commanders (Charon sometimes included).

Canon Overview

As a commander of Team Galactic, Mars serves an antagonistic role in the story. She is shown to be very loyal to Cyrus, eventually leaving Team Galactic in Platinum's post-game to search for him in the Distortion World. She also seems to dislike Charon, contributing to her departure.

Relatives

Due to their similar hair styles and color, Mars has been theorized by fans to be related to Ariana and Silver, often as their daughter and older sister respectively. Works depicting this may also have Giovanni (or less commonly, Byron) as her father. Less serious takes on this family tree may include Maxie somewhere as well. Several memes have depicted her to be a part of a family or evolution tree, with Ariana, Silver, Arezu, Byron, Roark, Maxie, and other characters. These connections are mainly made in light of their shared spiky red hair.

Pokémon Legends: Arceus, released around ten years after Mars' debut, introduces Arezu, a character who bears a striking resemblance to Mars. This had led fans to almost unanimously agree that Arezu is an ancestor of hers.
