Dorian Gray is a fictional character first appearing in Oscar Wilde's The Picture of Dorian Gray.
There have been several adaptions of this story and the character of Dorian Gray has appeared in other fandoms, most notably The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and Penny Dreadful.
Canon
In the novel, Dorian Gray is a wealthy gentleman, who hedonistic lifestyle leads him to reject Sybil, a woman who loves him dearly. Her subsequent death plagues him with guilt but he continues to commit morally dubious acts for his own gratification. Dorian doesn't age, but his portrait, hidden in the attic, shows his true self.
