Recs & Reviews

What can I say about Jane? She's got more talent in her elbow than most people have in their entire genetic lines and DVD collections put together. What a writer she is-- such simple words, such complicated thoughts, each sentence packed with a powerful punch. You don't have to worry about this girl. She could write her way out of Armegeddon, bioterrorism, and bad singing. She's moved on from the fandom, and I miss her a lot.

Some people are probably wondering why I didn't choose to rec her masterpiece, Lotharius. I guess I just was in a lighter mood, and wanted to go for the hysterically funny and sweet over the dark and twisted this time around. Every R/Hr shipper in fandom needs to read 'Conversations.' Harry alone will make you die in this one. READ IT. NOW.[9]

Out of all [Jane's] stories, Conversations with Dr. Hammond is my favorite. I still quote from it regularly -- one line in particular that I won't despoil here. It's just so good.

Although I talked to Janey not long ago, I still miss her presence amongst us too. Nevertheless, she remains a friend that I expect to still have long after fandom is in the dust. She and her writing deserve every kind word you've said.[10]

Conversations With Dr. Hammond by Jane is evolving into an interesting little read! It's basically a Ron and Hermione story. Ron and Hermione are dancing around each other and driving Harry nuts. [...] The story started out as therapy sessions for the trio with a psychologist. It is developing into something much, much more, though. It is becoming a very good story without the device of a psychologist! I'm very glad. I am enjoying it much more this way.[11]

[L]ast night I decided to read fics I have been holding off on and happened to read Jane's "Therapy," and "Conversations with Dr. Hammond," over at Checkmated. They were bloody fantastic and if you haven't read them yet go do it now! Do it! Do it! The second fic includes The-new-and-improved-unafraid-to-flirt-openly-and-dead-sexy-Ron![12]
