Brightknightie is an author of fan fiction, poetry, and essays, especially for Forever Knight and Highlander. In FK fandom, she was originally known by her full personal name and then as "Amy R."; but on journaling sites she is best known by her username. She belongs to the Knighties fan faction (i.e. fans of the vampire protagonist, Nick Knight). Her user name reflects her preference for stories that focus on his "lighter" side; and she favours his succeeding in his quest to return to mortality.

Monthly from May 1999 to March 2012, on both her personal website and her LJ/DW journals ( "Life (Not Immortality)"), she ran "Amy's Forever Knight Fanfiction Recommendation of the Month". For the benefit of journal readers not subscribed to the mailing lists, she also added a summary of the stories that had been posted to FKFIC-L that month. In addition, Brightknightie provides a monthly round-up of Forever Knight-related activity on social journaling sites ("FK Recently") for the benefit of journal-based fans.

Brightknightie is the moderator of FK Fic Fest, run annually since 2010.

I've been a member of Forever Knight's online fandom since shortly after "The Human Factor" aired in early 1996, when I so wanted to discuss that episode that I braved the wilds of the unfamiliar Internet, and discovered the haven of ForKni-L. Back then, it was all about discussion for me. With time, it's become mostly about fanfiction (my fanfic on the AO3, my FK fanfic recommendations). I'm a Knightie: a follower of Nick in the FKFic-L "War" round-robin game, and a Nick partisan in most interpretations. The "bright" in my handle is telling. That is, while I love serious and sad stories, I side with humanity, hope and salvation, never vampirism, despair or destruction. First season is far and away my favorite.

Why am I still in love with Forever Knight two decades and more after cancellation? It was an outstanding show with a magnificent metaphor. I met the most wonderful and compelling people along the way. It's my home fandom. It still makes me happy.
