Thursday’s Child is a Supernatural story focused on the pairing of Dean/Castiel. It is a canon-divergent AU, set within the post-apocalyptic Endverse. It is a highly recced fic, and often considered a "must read" in Destiel fandom, especially for fans of the Endverse.

Summery and Author's Note

[Summery]

Thursday’s child has far to go.

[Author's Note]

What would have happened if past!Dean hadn’t turned up in 2014, and future!Dean had actually succeeded in killing Lucifer with the Colt? Apparently, it involves lots of angsting. Who knew?

[Warnings]

This is future!Castiel, so be prepared for Castiel/OFCs, drug use and alcohol abuse (hey, it’s all canon!). In addition there’s the odd bit of violence, some whump, muchas porning and very brief implied non-con (nothing graphic at all). Please be warned if you don’t like death!fics that this story is set after Dean had to kill Lucifer!Sam, so clearly there’s (a) no Sam and (b) some mourning. On the bright side, though, there's also a guest appearance from a real-life Hollywood star! (Well, sort of.)

Reactions and Reviews

THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST FANFICS I HAVE EVER READ. Once I started, I couldn’t stop reading every chance I had until I was finished. This fic takes the reader on a roller coaster of emotions (but in a very good way). READ IT NOW, JUST DON’T EVEN CONTEMPLATE WHETHER YOU’D LIKE IT BECAUSE YOU WILL.[1]

This is one hell of a beautiful, beautiful fic. Her writing style is so captivating and real, it honestly brought a tear to my eye at one point. An incredible story (With lots of angst, I’ll warn you now) with so much depth. I really don’t think I’m doing it justice in this review. Just go read it.[2]

If you are into epic journeys with epic h/c and manpain then you have to read this one[3]

I read this in one sitting. Took about 7hrs from 4:00-11:00am, but it was totally worth it. Truly amazing fic here and I'll never forget it...[4]

This is a long fic (to put it in context, it’s just longer than Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban) but it is 100% worth the read. It has a fantastic plot and the characterisation is brilliant. Perfect if you’re like me and love end verse.[5]

This is a long, long post 5x04 fic in which the episode went AU and Dean killed Lucifer-Sam and Cas survived. So much angst and so much drug abuse and yet so good.[6]

One word for it: epic. I stayed home an entire Sunday just to finish this, I couldn't stop reading.[7]

This story is pretty angsty, so angst addicts come hither go wild! I also have to add that the (purely platonic) friendship between Castiel and Chuck is refreshing while the not-so-purely-platonic and complicated relationship between Castiel and Dean is interesting to watch unfold. This is a wonderful story, this is a must read for any and all Destiel fans.[8]

I was afraid to read this fic for a long time because of how many people I’ve spoken to that were reduced to angsty puddles of tears on the ground. Honestly, it’s an amazing, beautiful fucking story. It’s the first fic written soley from Castiel’s POV that I have thoroughly enjoyed. And yes, it’s angsty as hell and you’re scared as shit for the boys but the ending is so hopeful that it makes the journey so worth it.[9]

It was good, phenomenal actually.

Everything about it was so well written and (I felt) in character.

End!verse to end all end!verse.[10]

This has been one of the best fan fictions I’ve read in a long time. I’m not normally overly enamored with End!Verse fics, but this one really stood out. It is angsty (in a wonderful way) but has a happy ending - which makes it really satisfying.

The story starts with Cas waking up, still recovering from a serious injury after the show down with Lucifer, only to find that Dean has left Camp Chitaqua. The newly sober Cas (having gone through withdrawal while unconscious) is determined to track Dean down again, and make sure he’s okay. Dean, however, doesn’t want to be found.

There are lots of bumps and set backs along the way, but this is essentially the story of two very broken people finding comfort in each other and, eventually, healing together.[11]

Don’t let the blurb fool you with its seemingly carefree tone. TC is a book that deals with the struggles of a drug-addicted character in finding his anchor in a world reminding him of his failures. The struggle of drug addiction, while frustrating to read about, was portrayed well and does not make light of the issue (no waving the magic wand called “love” to make it all better!). There was a good mixture of angst, action, humor and heart wrenching moments.[12]

SO. YOU WANT TO TALK ABOUT THURSDAY’S CHILD.

CAN WE TALK ABOUT HOW THIS IS THE END!VERSE OF END!VERSES?

CAN WE TALK ABOUT HOW STRANGENESSANDCHARM ADMITS TO ENJOYING RIPPING PEOPLE’S HEARTS OUT?

CAN WE TALK ABOUT HOW THE SEX SCENE IN THIS FIC IS ABSOLUTELY STEAMING?

CAN WE TALK ABOUT HOW I PRINTED THIS ENTIRE FIC OUT, HOLE PUNCHED IT, LAMINATED THE COVER, AND MADE A GORGEOUS “BOOK”?

CAN WE TALK ABOUT THE BEAUTY OF COMPLEX CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT, BELIEVABLE DIALOGUE, AN INTERESTING STORYLINE, AND A PERFECT ENDING?

CAN WE TALK ABOUT HOW I’VE READ THIS FIC A TOTAL OF 27 TIMES? LITERALLY.

CAN WE TALK ABOUT HOW THIS IS REQUIRED READING FOR EVERY DESTIEL SHIPPER WHO HAS WATCHED PAST 5x04?[13]

This story is pretty angsty, so angst addicts come hither go wild! I also have to add that the (purely platonic) friendship between Castiel and Chuck is refreshing while the not-so-purely-platonic and complicated relationship between Castiel and Dean is interesting to watch unfold. This is a wonderful story, this is a must read for any and all Destiel fans.[14]
