Hi, I believe the K-Pop page needs a massive overhaul. I have drafted an update to the English-Speaking Fandom section for people's perusal. I'm also going to be creating a "K-Pop Podfic" page soon, hopefully. Please let me know what you think. Advice on how to properly cite things would also be appreciated. --Math-is-magic (talk) 17:53, 27 September 2021 (UTC)

I think it's easier to just revise the page, then post to the talk page asking for feedback on specific parts (because then one can do a direct comparison on the main page edits using the wiki software and see what was updated). This looks fine to me, I think. I agree with you that the page could use an overhaul. We could probably actually do a 'kpop terminology' page all its own, but it's easier to start by fleshing out that section (only moving it if it gets super long). As for citations, the standard way on Wikipedia and the like is URL, whatever info about what the source is, date source is from, date you accessed it. Thanks, Franzeska. I'll do that then. I just wasn't sure because I recently got dinged for removing one example ship on a shipping article so I was like. "Oh I better ask someone before I make a BIG change somehwere." I will do that then. --Math-is-magic (talk) 19:38, 27 September 2021 (UTC)

Fan Activities in Kpop fandom

I've noticed a lot of group pages dedicate section to Kpop fanactivities in a really great way, but this has huge overlap across groups and is more of a "Kpop fan activity" than it is particular to any group - for example group orders, fancams, reactions, etc. I think it would be best to have it all consolidated together so that each group's fandom page can focus on the aspects of fan activities that are unique to them. Some pages where I feel the content should be moved and merged...

Some pages where we could expand on cross-kpop-fandom examples (and tbh also outside of kpop examples for some) - Fan Translation, Random play dance, Group Order, Dance cover or Dance Tutorial, writing letters to your idol?, vLives, Hi-touch, selcas, that fan activity to go see your idol at the airport (?), C-bars, streaming (fan ac) (as in streaming an artists song hoping to help them break records? different from streaming)...

K-pop vs Kpop

I think it would be good to standardise this across at least this article, if not the whole fandom. Personally, I see it as Kpop most of the time, rather than K-pop, probably because it is faster to type the former. Opinions? Distracteddaydreamer (talk) 05:18, 14 February 2024 (UTC)

History section?

I thinking a timeline or a history might be beneficial for this page? K-Pop fandom is vastly different throughout each "generation" so it might be easier to maintain by having a history/time structured by the gens or or something similar? Like this, I like the way this article is written:

But instead for fannish history through the generations.

It would be easier to track the development that way, since this page seems a bit overly centered on fanfic, and lacking everything else, e.g:

I agree completely that a timeline or history would help + we should show more of the non fanfic side, which is where most kpop fans seem to be anyway. But I'm a little unsure about coming up with our own categories for gen, cuz I haven't really seen people categorising fan activities into "generations" and the generations seem mostly to refer to groups and still be somewhat disputed? I also wonder if a timeline based page or a generation based page is best suited as another (linked) article like K-pop Generations or something - maybe depending on length. We could put it here and then workshop it? Distracteddaydreamer (talk) 11:27, 12 May 2024 (UTC)
