Is this considered a meme? --MPH (talk) 01:36, 27 January 2015 (UTC)

No, it's a long discussion thread. If it were a meme, there would be new posts with screencaps of the question superimposed on fandom characters, bonus points if the character has a flower crown photoshopped on their head.--æþel (talk) 01:48, 27 January 2015 (UTC)
Yay for flower crowns! I hope it gets one... --MPH (talk) 01:58, 27 January 2015 (UTC)
I love this - here is where Fanlore can be a real value add, collecting all the scattered threads and pulling them together. It is tricky to follow discussions on tumblr.--MeeDee (talk) 15:32, 27 January 2015 (UTC)
It's been a fun page to make. The answers are like one long interview, and chalk-full of fascinating details. The comments togetner like this aren't a measurable thing, but rather like poetry. --MPH (talk) 20:12, 27 January 2015 (UTC)

Yeesh, now I really feel old. To me, the "olden days" of fanfic had stories that could have passed for original show episodes (and were often better) complete with gorgeous gals who went to bed with the Captain (and nobody yelled Mary Sue!), scholarly articles set in the Star Trek universe as if it were the present-day world, people discussing Kraith pro and con, no pairings, no age statements, no labels, and "gen" meant a story set in the Star Trek universe with all original characters... -- Grandpa KTJ (talk) 20:37, 28 January 2015 (UTC)

aethel, I'd wanted to keep the part in parens in the title as this page is specifically about that particular discussion thread, rather, than the general subject of fanfic changing over time. But if you think it is unnecessary than, I guess that's okay. --MPH (talk) 17:20, 31 January 2015 (UTC)
