IME it's not derogatory, people often use it to describe themselves. "Puppies"/"puppyshipping" for Remus/Sirius just comes from the fact that one character is a werewolf and the other can transform into a dog.

However, the term "Puppyshipping" is also used for a pairing in Yu-Gi-Oh! fandom, and in fact it looks like it more often refers to the Yu-Gi-Oh ship elsewhere online: see the Tumblr tag, this FF.net puppyshipping collection, even the AO3 tag. I'm going to redirect this page to a Puppyshipping disambiguation page. More info about the term in HP fandom can probably go on the Remus/Sirius page. --sparc 01:49, 28 February 2016 (UTC)
