So glad to see this page being updated. is there a way to preserve the history of what the OTW Webmasters did, rather than removing it? It might help down the road to understand how the committee has grown. I'm not sure the details of which CMS was used and what subsection of the website was managed by whom is that necessary to preserve, really. Ridicully 09:13, 11 May 2016 (UTC)

I think I understand. There seem to be two issues: (a) is the mention of CiviCRM software correct? and (b) we do not know who within the OTW supported some of the functions and tasks that have been removed. (ex: Wordpress, the election software, the media subdomain, the social media accounts, and custom CSS styles). So my first question is who now supports these tasks? Once we know this we can document the fluidity of the webmasters role in a footnote. We don't typically delete info unless we have knowledge that the info was incorrect. Our role is to document both the past and the present. MeeDee (talk) 14:57, 11 May 2016 (UTC)

Finding more details about all of the following would require digging through old OTW news posts, but here, MD: this committee maintained the CiviCRM donor database until 2015, when that was outsourced. I don't recall until when the TWC OJS was maintained, but that was eventually outsourced as well. They never maintained social media accounts; that was always the Communications team. The old version of this page is referring only to the styling of those social media profiles. One thing I'm unsure about is whether the page should be renamed, with a note about different names added. The committee's name was originally Webmasters, I think (not sure), then it became "Web Strategy, Design & Development" at some point, and then just "Webs." I don't know for sure, though, but I do know various OTW documents like Annual Reports refer to it by different names over the years, so it might be good to have that info on Fanlore. --PriscillaD (talk) 14:08, 17 August 2022 (UTC)
On the topic of naming, should we change the main name of this page to "Organization for Transformative Works/Webs" to reflect the committee's current name (as seen at the OTW's committee page), alongside adding the history of its name changes to the page?
If no-one objects by the end of the week (Sunday 21st), I'll make the change. --enchantedsleeper (talk) 21:13, 17 August 2022 (UTC)
