Excerpts

"What about Wintershock as a pairing appeals to you? I think it’s less Wintershock and more Darcy. Darcy is snarky and sarcastic, but there’s been so little information about her that she can be whoever we really want her to be, so it’s easy for a reader to put themselves in her place. I read a lot of Darcy-centric and Darcy pairing fics."

"How did you first encounter it? Trolling through AO3 reading ShieldShock."

"Of the stories that you’ve written concerning them, which one is your favorite and why?Alone (But Not Alone).” It’s the only pure Darcy/Bucky story I’ve written. I am Type I Bipolar, and have suffered from depression and anxiety attacks for almost 15 years, and it took nearly 12 for me to get a correct diagnosis. While I’m now stable, I know how hard it is to deal with mental illness, and I see a lot of that in Bucky. At the same time, I’ve also been on the other side, and I know how difficult it can be for a caregiver as well. It’s important to me to see people with mental illness taken seriously and compassionately, as well as to see it written about responsibly. The only way we’ll ever get rid of the stigma regarding mental illness is if we talk about it, and fic is one way to normalize a very common ailment."

"What Wintershock fic(s) by someone else would you recommend to others to read? What about this fic(s) appeals to you? That’s hard! I will read anything Rainne writes, same with Merideath. One story I love is actually WinterShieldShock - “Ice and Fire” by SteeleHoldingOn. The characterizations are just perfect, and it’s all really skillfully done."
