Wincon or WinchesterCon is an annual fan-run convention. From 2006-2009 it was specifically focused on the Supernatural fandom. It features panels discussing aspects of TV show and the fandom, big screen viewings of recent episodes, a fan vid show, and a lot of socialising. The emphasis is to celebrate the creative aspects of fandom, and the culture of online fandom. Each year the Convention supports a Kiva Account through its raffle. It attracts attendees from the US and Canada as well as Australia, Europe and the UK. While the convention is not Wincest specific, fans of Wincest and discussions of Wincest are welcomed.

The first Wincon was held in Nashville (October 2006), but has moved to different cities in the following years.

In 2010, the convention expanded to include other fandoms and it is now a multi-fandom convention. It also expanded its mission statement to reflect this wider focus:

Wincon is a by-the-fans, for-the-fans operation. Our goal is to provide an annual multi-fandom gathering for fans and provide a safer space for women, queer people, and under-represented fans of popular media and culture in all its infinite varieties (just like us) to come and meet, hang out, discuss their fandoms, the fic written about them, the fanart made for them, and have a good time. It’s the internet come to life. It’s a place where you can be yourself and feel comfortable in all your geeky glory. No official personnel from any show or fandom is affiliated with this convention, nor will there be any appearances by any show actors, celebrities, writers, or other personnel. It’s all about us, the fans, and the way we express ourselves and our love for fandom.

2006 Wincon

The first Winchester Con was held October 13-15, 2006 in Nashville, Tennessee. There were approximately 250 attendees.

2010 Wincon

The fifth annual Winchester Con is scheduled to take place in October 2010 in Chicago, IL. To deal with declining membership, the convention has decided to expand programming beyond the TV show Supernatural and into other media fandoms. A new convention website has been set up here.

2011 Wincon

Wincon 2011 was held in New Orleans on October 14th-16th. The WinProm theme was Under The Sea. The convention raised $565 for the KIVA charity.

Friday

• Men/Women in Uniform: Uniforms are present in fandoms as distinct as Stargate: Atlantis, Harry Potter, and football RPF. Indeed, the trope is so pervasive, it has spawned an entire sub-genre of AUs (from boarding school dormitories to military barracks) created just to see our favorite characters dressed alike. What is it about uniforms that are so attractive? What do uniforms add to a story or scene? The Uniform panel seeks to answer these questions and more, complete with audience participation and visual aids!
• Comics Fandom /Marvel Universe: Squeeze in some heated discussion about your favorite comic, give your two-cents on the explosion of Marvel-verse over the summer, and be prepared to take the party to the Roadhouse when you run out of time to discuss ALL the alternate timelines and parallel Earths.
• Fan Art: Be it digital or traditional, the delicate science of the perfect .gif or MS Paint stick figure comics - we wanna talk about it and where fan art is headed as fandom platforms evolve.
• How to Host a Challenge/Community/Kink Meme: Is your new fandom too quiet? Do you have a hankering for a Zombie apocalypse challenge and not a one in sight? Never fear. The queens of fandom participation will teach you their tricks.
• SPN Replay: Replay of the October 7th episode of Supernatural.
• Vid Show

• RPF Panel: RPF - Real People as Fictional Characters: Off-limits or all’s fair - why do you read it/write it/ ship it?
• Lawyers!: Why do we love shows about lawyers so much? It’s not just the suits or the cocky attitudes or even the way they look when the suits come off... but those things sure as hell don’t hurt.
• Pimp Your Fandom: Do you feel the need to open the hearts and minds of fan girls to your fandom? Do you have the tools? The guts? Then sign up here for a ten minute pitch to dazzle and initiate the audience to your flavor of the day/month/year/decade. Props encouraged.
• Writing Beyond Trope: Poly, Kink and Taboo: Do you sometimes want to write/read something outside your norm? Do some warnings scare (and intrigue) you? Let’s discuss getting it right, making it interesting and discovering something new!
• International Bad Fic Idol: Be prepared to laugh yourself to death as we read the crackiest of crack fic known to fandom, then judge it. Not that we’re judgmental or anything. Well, maybe the mental part.
• Romance Panel: What do bodice-ripping highlanders, arranged marriages, and werewolf/vampire/shapeshifting soulmates have in common? Romance, of course! Be it fanfic or pro, het or slash, what makes for good romance? Tropes we love, hate, and hate to love, so long as everyone lives happily ever after.
• Wincon Roadhouse: Comp drinks and snacks abound! Vid show replay and episode marathons will be happening throughout the weekend at the roadhouse this year. A separate schedule of events for this room will be posted closer to the con.
• Winprom: Theme: Under the Sea: The power of Cthulhu compels you to eat, drink and dance with your fellow fangirls! Costumes welcome but not mandatory.
