Wil Wheaton is an actor and blogger. He is best known in fandom for his roles as Wesley Crusher in Star Trek: The Next Generation and Colin Mason in Leverage; he might also be most well-known for his role facilitating Lets Plays of different games including RPGs. He also appears as a fictionalized version of himself on The Big Bang Theory.

Not a Fan of Creation Con

I tried really hard to work things out with Creation, but they put me on some kind of blacklist for “bad talking” about them (which was essentially me saying, “I wish they’d done X instead of Y, and maybe spelled my name correctly” at some show), and I won’t be invited to attend any future Creation conventions. It was so inexplicably petty of them, I don’t even know what to say. However, it’s their business, and they can run it however they’d like.

Luckily, I don’t rely on Creation conventions for income like a lot of other actors, and to be honest, based on the way they’ve treated me in the last few years (and fandom forever), they’re not the kind of people I’m interested in doing business with, anyway. Life’s too short, and there are plenty of other promoters and other shows where fans and actors alike are treated with professionalism and respect. Those are the shows I’ll be attending from now on. Fan Comments

Yes, I'm an unabashed fan.

I consider Wil Wheaton to be an awesomely descent [sic] human being.

That's it.

I really paid little attention to his career as a child actor. Although I'm a fan of Star Trek, his appearance there wasn't particularly interesting to me. I'm not even one of those folks who loathed Wesley Crusher.

No, I'm a fan of Wil Wheaton on account of just four words.

"Don't be a dick."

You see, I am a fan of Wil Wheaton because he is, as I said, awesomely descent.

Like me, Wil Wheaton knows a thing or two about personal struggles with depression. He knows that depression lies and isn't afraid to talk about it.

Science fiction writer Spider Robinson once wrote that just as there are laws of conservation of mass and energy, there are laws of conservation of pain and joy. "Shared pain is lessened; shared joy, increased—thus do we refute entropy." And Wil Wheaton has done his bit to refute entropy, by lessening the pain in the world.

This is why Wil Wheaton is the Best Person Ever. [2]
