Vice Verse 1 was published in October 1989 and is 57 pages long.

The art is by Julie Madge, Mary Platt, Adrian Morgan, and Stephannie Stoddard. Like a number of zines of this era, Dover clip art is used extensively as backgrounds, illos, and borders.

The back cover by Adrian Morgan is a 1990 Fan Q winner for Best Miami Vice Artist. This zine won a 1990 Fan Q for best Miami Vice editing. All of its artists were nominated for Fan Qs.

From the zine:

Vice Verse came into being because Mary Platt wanted to see together in one place some of the terrific poetry she had read, and because all three of us wanted to say thank you to Anthony Yerkovich, Michael Mann, Don Johnson, Philip Michael Thomas, Edward James Olmos, Michael Talbott, John Dishl, Saundra Santiago, Olivia Brown, all the wonderful writers, directors, and producers, and everyone else involved in Miami Vice, an innovative, explosive show which made us think, made us dream, and inspired the poems contained herein. This is for you, guys -- we hope we have given you back at least a little of the pleasure you gave us every Friday night for five great years.
