I'm a longtime fan (20+ years of internet fandom, 25+ years of fandom in general) who's in sort of the middle-child group. Old enough to remember a time before Google and Tumblr, not old enough for the "everything is mail order" era. Pre-internet, I was a teenage nerd who wrote countless fanfics for The Brady Bunch in a series of notebooks. These included crossovers with Home Improvement and Boy Meets World. As a pre-teen, I was an Archie fan who was way more invested in Betty and Veronica's relationship than I was with who would get Archie. My very first clearly-remembered pre-internet fandoms, though, were Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers and Alvin and the Chipmunks.
In my early internet days, I cut my teeth in Pokémon and Sailor Moon fanfic, which gave an official name to what I'd been doing in those notebooks. I also discovered the joys of hentai and lemons, as well as the skill to read and write them on the family computer in the den without my parents knowing. Life got easier when we moved the computer into my room and my folks got their own!
I was there for many memorable wanks and meltdowns, including Crystalwank, Snapewives, and The Big Akito Sohma Gender Reveal.
