My name is AnnaK, and I am a member of the OTW's Volunteers and Recruiting Committee and a moderator at www.svufiction.com, as well as a college English teacher and perpetual student.
My first brush with fandom was about fifteen years ago. I can't pinpoint if it started with Xena and Hercules fic or Star Trek chat based (and later board based) RPGs, but I do know that when I got my very own PC for Christmas one year, I quickly found places to posts the scripts and stories I had been writing in spiral notebooks. I posted under a different pseud in those days, but for my dignity, I am opting to keep that neatly buried.
My involvement with fandom dwindled to Star Trek RPGs based in yahoogroups for most of my college career until my girlfriend encouraged me to write a Law and Order SVU femslash piece. I came back to fic with a vengeance and found that fandom provided a great support group for my struggles with my sexuality. My reemergence into the world of fic introduced me to LJ in 2005, so I now post fic and icons there, as well as participate in LJ based RPGs.
The above fandom list is incomplete. Lately I've found myself drawn to smaller fandoms and minor characters, so I keep a lot on my plate. But those are some of the fandoms that continue to captivate me the most. I enjoy small, academic fandoms and meta heavy fic as well.
