Uchiha Madara is a character on Naruto.He is a legendary ninja from the time of the clan wars, just when the Hidden Leaf Village was founded.

Canon

Madara's identity was the subject of much discussion when the series was still in the process of being published. He introduced himself as Tobi, the newest member of the Akatsuki, only to show his supposed true identity and goal later in the series. Eventually, however, it was revealed that Tobi was not Madara, but Obito Uchiha. The real Madara came back to life temporarily, becoming the villain to defeat for a while. Flashbacks of his previous life and his relationship with Hashirama Senju were scattered throughout the chapters, showing his context and who he really was when he was alive.

Common Pairings

At first the most popular ship with Madara was Hashirama, both being best friends in canon and having scenes with each other that many fans have interpreted as homosexual subtext. However, the popular Blackkat Madatobi fanfics made this ship numbers on AO3 skyrocket and it ended up being more popular than Hashimada. Tobirama Senju's in-canon relationship with Madara is not good and for some fans it has more potential.

Even if they belong to different generations and don't interact too much in the source material, Madasaku is the most popular het ship with Madara. More unusual is Madara's OT3 with Hashirama and Mito Uzumaki, a canonically married couple.
