Two of a Kind is an ABC sitcom series that ran for one season starring Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen (the Olsen Twins). The series also has 40 books that are based on the main characters.
Canon
The series is about Kevin Burke, who is a college professor and widowed father that has twin daughters, Mary-Kate and Ashley Burke, who are fraternal twin sisters but are complete opposites. He hires Carrie, a 26-year-old woman in Kevin's class who has explored the world before coming back to school. She's quirky, difficult, beautiful, and quick to speak her mind, so when she answers Kevin's ad for a part-time baby sitter for the girls, he is convinced she's nothing but trouble and is in favor of their next door neighbor, however the girls think she is a dream-sitter come true, and join forces to get her to stay.
Main characters:
- Mary-Kate Burke - a tomboy who loves sports and horses, and unlike her twin sister, she's not very good at school - getting a Math Tutor.
- Ashley Burke - a total opposite to her twin sister, she is very girly and likes boys, fashion, dancing, make up, cheerleading, and modeling. Ashley's a straight A student.
- Kevin Burke - the widower dad of Mary-Kate and Ashley, a professor and landlord of Carrie, with whom he has a complicated relationship with.
- Carrie Moore - the twins' babysitter and student, friend, and employee of Professor Burke.
- Paul - Carrie's classmate and is a student of Kevin, he has a job as a pizza delivery guy and is very good with computers.
- Brian - Mary-Kate and Ashley's friend who has a crush on Ashley and just about every other girl in the school.
- Max - Mary-Kate and Ashley's other guy friend.
Minor characters:
- Mrs. Baker - an older woman who was Mary-Kate and Ashley's babysitter before Carrie.
- Jennifer Dilber - a popular girl that is friends with Ashley.
- Taylor Donovan - Mary-Kate's math tutor and Ashley's main love interest.
- Matt Burke - Kevin's irresponsible younger brother, briefly dated Carrie.
- Eddie Fairbanks - Kevin's best friend and a plumber.
- Nicole - Ashley's other friend.
Fandom
The fandom is a very small one due to the brief series run and how long the series has been off air, however there has been an increase in activity in the 2010s. TOAK fandom has been seen on Youtube, FFN, AO3 and Livejournal.
