As the voyage begins, Daniel's life is threatened by Pon Farr, the fatal desire of a Vulcan woman and the murderous jealousy of a Vulcan starship captain. On a wilderness planet, Daniel is joined by his friend, Rashid Kengi (Uhura's son) where they encounter a hate-filled culture called the Wolves. The Wolves plan on "purifying" and ruling the Galaxy. It is up to Daniel and his friends ( and Captain Kirk!) to save the day. Surak also appears in this story."
