From the Author's Notes

Two and a half years ago, I did not even know what a fanzine was, and now I am getting ready to take one of my own to the printer. This is my first attempt to write anything, and as it stands right now, there will be no follow up to this story. It stands alone.

There is one very special lady to whom a simple thank you will never be enough. She introduced me to fandom. She's always there when I need her and she assisted me in every way possible, while maintaining faith through out that TSTS was a worthwhile story, and that I could write. Sue Glasgow.. "To See Thee Smile" is your story, and always will be.

One final note: TSTS is an alternate look at the ending of the aired Trek episode Operation: Annihilate! It follows the aired timeline, and therefore, Journey to Babel has not taken place.

Reactions and Reviews

A brand-new zine from a new author. This is a post-'Operation Annihilate!' 'what-if' story based on the premise that Spock WAS permanently blinded by McCoy's parasite cure. This touching sensitive novel tells of the struggles of two men in adjusting to the tragedy fate has dealt them. Spock must try to adapt to blindness and the loss of everything he holds dear, while Kirk, as usual, moves heaven and earth in an attempt to change the unchangeable. The story is well written and the characterizations are beautifully done. The interplay between Kirk, Spock, and McCoy is first class. No illos, but the zine easily stands on its own without them. The nice clear offset print is a real treat. Highly recommended! [1]

What would happen if Spock had remained blind after the Episode "Operation Annihilate!"? That is the story line for this gently written, easy to read 'zine.

Although it will not go down as an S.T. classic, it is well worth the price and a place amongst your fanzine library...You'll enjoy it. So I am not going to spoil anyone's enjoyment by detailing the story's progression. Instead...here is a teaser which the authoress herself includes on her flier:

"You're just afraid I'll beat you cause you're all out of shape!" Enik teased him, "Even the birds could out run you!"
The boy raced off after one of the long-legged sandbirds. Then there was the sound of footsteps behind him, and suddenly the tall dark figure was running beside him.
Somewhat surprised Enik ran a little harder. The Vulcan paced him, almost effortlessly, his long dark hair tossing in the wind. Even in his blindness, Spock's strides were sure and strong on the packed sand. [2]
