Timeless is a Klaus/Caroline time travel fic by Hybridlovelies set between season 2 and 3 of Vampire Diaries. There is a sequel, called Changeless[1].
The fic was awarded Best Time Travel Fiction 2012 at the Klaroline Awards.
Summary
Official Summary:The girls come up with a plan to send Caroline back in time to kill Klaus before he ever arrives in Mystic Falls. But it turns out their plan won't be as simple as they thought. Especially when Caroline gets stuck in the past & only has Klaus to rely on.

When I hear or read the title ‘Timeless’ my mind automatically places it in a list of what I call ‘Classic Klaroline Fanfiction’[4]
Reviews and Comments
Hybridlovelies does a wonderful job with the characterizations of the characters in the story, which is no small feat considering she not only has to write past Klaus but also present day Klaus along with the other characters. Caroline is the feisty baby vampire that takes none of Klaus’ shit though is not fearless, while Klaus is the bloodthirsty, determined Original that we were introduced to in Season Two. Even after falling for Caroline, Klaus is no neutered puppy; he is still very dangerous to those who get in his way. The author does a wonderful job at letting us see the two’s inner thoughts, displaying a plethora of emotions ranging from confusion to understanding, anguish to wonderment. All of this adds even more to the already fiery chemistry between them, which leads to some very hot steamy love scenes that are often brief but in no ways disappointing.The supporting characters both those known from the show and the one original character are written very well, giving them some depth without taking the focus away from the main characters, instead just adding to their story. There is a bit of Forwood when Caroline returns to present day, but solely as a friendship on Caroline’s part and it definitely adds to the story, which I find unique.
I remember being sad when the story ended, but only because I was going to miss the story so much. Hybridlovelies did a great job at wrapping up the story in a natural way while also showing that it wasn’t a happy ever after end for the couple, which for this tale of Klaus and Caroline, wouldn’t fit. Their relationship didn’t start out with rainbows and unicorns and it sure wasn’t going to be that once they committed to each other. Though I believe at the time, she hadn’t planned to write a sequel, the flow to it was natural as well.[4]
I just finish reading “Timeless”. Damn. I started this morning and ended an hour ago. Probably one of the best Klaroline fanfics I have ever read. It was beautiful, incredibly well written AND IT GAVE ME SO MANY FEELS. I hope the author could do a sequel… If you haven’t read that fic (I DON’T WHY YOU ARE ALIVE IF YOU HAVEN’T) you should look for it[5]
