These Aren't My Toys (I Just Play With Them) is a Merlin/Arthur story by misswinterhill (17,500 words).
Summary: Toys have only a few duties in life—to love their child, to look after each other, and to play along, no matter what happens. Merlin is the newest Camelot Collectable in Johnny’s collection, and in between navigating the hoover, an invading army and the Thing under the bed, he falls in love with the other half of his limited edition run.
The story uses the Toy Story concept of toys coming to life and uses this to tell a sort of canon era love story (except that it's about toys and set in modern day), comment on fanfiction, Arthurian Legend, the stories we tell, what we do to the characters we love and how we love them.

Also safe for work is the hilarious and thoughtful These Aren't My Toys (I Just Play With Them) which is a Merlin AU fic. Jenny has taken Merlin and dropped it into the conceptual universe of Toy Story, where Merlin is an action figure bought as a gift in order to complete the Camelot Collectable set. It's funny, sweet, and actually has a lot of interesting stuff to say about the episodic nature of childish play and of the canon series.[1]
This is a super original idea which has been very cleverly done. Love the way the author did the scenes in which the toys were being played with. Very cute.[2]
I can’t remember if I recced These Aren’t My Toys (I Just Play with Them) yet but if I haven’t, it’s fun and heartache-y and sweet and Toy Story-y in the best way possible all wrapped up into one[3]
