Exploration of T'Pring's challenge, tracing the childhood friendship of Spock, Stonn and T'Pring, T'Pring's growth as an artist, Spock's departure to Starfleet, and the attachment between Stonn and T'Pring. Nice factors are T'Pring coming to view Spock as a threatening intruder so that she refuses to trade her life for his; Stonn's sense of betrayal that turns his possession of T'Pring to ashes; Spock's bitter renunciation of all those gathered. Excellent writing. [1]
