Recs and Reviews

What I love the most about her TPM stories in particular, is that she never makes love easy, and the relationship is all the sweeter for the work when they finally get here. Surfacing: At First is the first in a 5-part series which takes Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan's relationship through a rigorous course of angst, plot, and hurt/comfort, and of course, amazing writing.[1]

Phantom Menace fandom is fascinating to watch (from a distance...). I've never seen a fandom grow so fast. Thankfully it's getting some strong stories, like Surfacing, a five-part series: At First, At Moments, At Odds, and At Last, and At Home. Still more to come, but each piece has a resolution to it.[2]

surfacing: at first, at moments, at odds, at last, at home. qui/obi, nc-17, sw:tpm. rather storytellerish, an obi pov first-time story that tries for bittersweet. it's more sweet than bitter, though, possibly as a result of what i think is a bit of overconfidence in the narrative style.[3]

[Surfacing 1: At First] [Surfacing 2: At Moments] [Surfacing 3: At Odds] [Surfacing 4: At Last] [Surfacing 5: At Home] Surfacing (UPDATED 3/25/00 -- Added the next three installments, which are SO worth reading. *guh!* ) A heartbreaker, but boy, does it hurt so good baby. If you desperately need a happy ending, this may not be for you, but if you can overlook that long enough to enjoy the wonderful writing, the spot-on characterization and enough hot, angsty smut to shake a saber at, you won't be disappointed. *guh*[4]
