The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest was a 90s reboot of the original Jonny Quest cartoon from the 1960s. Due to major differences in writing, characters, and focus of the show, TRA carried its own unique fanbase.

JQ:TRA fans call themselves Questors or Quest Fans.

The Mailing List

JQ:TRA fandom mostly interacted and kept in touch via a mailing list, later called Questors and later called the JQML. Its humble beginnings were when a few people e-mailed everyone else on the "list" by inputting everyone's e-mail with each out-going message. It was then moved to an actual mailing list host site, and then moved through several mailing list host sites as one site would be bought-up by another site. It ended up as the JQML at Yahoo Groups, where it remains today.

Pairings and Fandom Terminology

Fans on JQML were generally divided into two camps, with a few outliers. The groups were:

  • Hopeless Romantics (HR) - generally Jonny/Jessie shippers, though the term expanded to include any ships among the main trio
  • Desperately Being Neutral (DBN) - fans who did not want any of the main trio involved in a romantic relationship

Jonny/Hadji was a rare ship in the heyday of the fandom but was still present.

Additional ML terminology can be found here.

The Wildey Awards

The Wildey Awards, sometimes shortened to "The Wildey's," were a series of Jonny Quest fanfiction awards. The awards were named after the original series creator Doug Wildey. Fanfiction written in the awards quarter were nominated, and winners were decided by public vote.
