Usually, fics containing Bob focus on his relationship with Benton and Buck rarely appears at all. But while Bob Fraser may be an ornery ghost and Sergeant Frobisher have a gas problem now, a few decades earlier they stood across a canyon and one of them made an impossible shot, winning the love of the woman they rescued. This is a great snapshot of an earlier time in the characters' lives. The choice of Buck's point of view to retell this canon referenced event works well. This fic captures the banter between Buck and Bob, and gives a good offscreen presence for Caroline. The humour of the story just edges the poignancy of knowing the canon fates of the characters.[1]
