Reactions and Reviews: Issue 3

Thanks fro sending GALLIFREY GAZETTE so promptly! I just finished reading it and enjoyed it very much. I thought Return of the Nada was one of the most original DW/ST crossovers I've red; everybody has him land on the Enterprise, and I thought the Devisor was a terrific choice! One thing that wasn't really explained was just what a Nada was -- evidently that was explained in the first story, but not everybody has that available. I did like the use of Turlough in his Black Guardian state, though. I liked the other stories, too. One criticism I would make that seemed to apply to most of the stories is that they tend to mention scenes that ought to be told; for example, I was dying to read just what happened to Leela and Alan-a-dale in Amidst the Merry Men, but it happened "off-stage" so to speak. (The archaic language was better done than usual, but please! It's --st endings for thou verbs, regular endings for 3rd person singular! Sorry, it's the classics major showing.) All these criticisms are fairly minor, though -- on the whole, I found GALLIFREY GAZETTE a delightful read. [1]

"Trouble with Teenagers": I loved this! I have an idea about the other TARDIS. It's the Master! I believe that he was Jack (in disguise). My proof is on page 38: "I came for a very different reason." He smiled at the Doctor. [2]

From the editorial:

Back in issue #3, I announced I would be leaving The Gallifrey Gazette. Most of you have probably noticed that I'm still around. Well, this time my departure is for real. Since I haven't done much for this issue (trivia, puzzle, and the editing), I've had time to work on my own novel... Creating my own worlds and characters is far more satisfying thatn working with characters somebody eles has created. In short, writing Doctor Who has tended to stifle my creativity, rather than stretch it. Anyway, I've run out of ideas for good Doctor Who stories.
