The Enchanted Forest Chronicles is a quartet of fantasy novels by Patricia C. Wrede: Dealing with Dragons, Searching for Dragons, Calling on Dragons, and Talking to Dragons. The last of these was actually the first published, in 1985; and it was subsequently edited to tie in more closely to the other three.

Canon

Objecting to society's limited options, Cimorene runs away from the kingdom of Linderwall and takes the position of dragon's princess with Kazul, who vies for the position of King of the Dragons after ambitious wizards poison the old King. After foiling their plot to poison Kazul as well, Cimorene meets Mendanbar, the King of the Enchanted Forest; and together they and their friends continue to counter sundry attempts by the wizards to control the forest's magic. Finally, their enemies succeed in magically trapping Mendanbar inside his castle. Cimorene secretly raises their son, Daystar, who grows up to defeat the wizards and free his father.

Fandom

While never a large fandom, EFC has had a steady stream of fandom activity since its publication. It's a frequently requested fandom in the Yuletide gift exchange. In 2020, tumblr users created an EFC-specific discord server. [1]
