Reactions and Reviews

Why you should read this: It's nice and long and competently written, and I actually sort of teared up near the end. Oh, and she used the word "smileoid" and gave good e-mail and mentioned Peter Wimsey. Ten bonus points for each.

What might throw you off stride: It could have used a strong beta hand. It's uneven and definitely contrived (particularly the conversations between the two female friends), but there's a noteworthy intelligence and writerly ambition behind the contrivance. So go on--embrace the Wiccan yenta inside you for a little while. Blessed be.[1]

Summary: An old colleague and friend of Blair’s who has been out of the country returns to Cascade and runs into Blair at his Academy graduation ceremony. Naturally, she’s shocked that he’s no longer in anthro or at Rainier. She’s staying with another friend, who’s a journalist, and gets the low down on the press conference and aftermath. But she feels that there’s more to the story, especially that there’s a nascent romantic bond between Jim and Blair that should be developed.

Since both she and her friend are witches, they decide to convene a coven on Samhain, hoping to send the right intention in the air to get the boys together.

Reccer’s Notes: With Blair’s eclectic tastes, a Wiccan isn’t too far of a stretch, and of course wouldn’t you want to interfere for the good if you were Blair’s friend? Enjoy.[2]
