Reactions and Reviews

During the first couple of pages of the story I thought: “Ah, it’s a shore leave story – Kirk and Spock on a lonesome beach, sharing quality time together, becoming lovers. Great! I like shore leave stories written by Dovya very much.” And so, I kind of settled in the sunlit mood and continued. And then...then everything turns out oh so differently. And then again. And all I can say is that I loved it. “Temporarily In Amber Light” is a story with a heart-breaking twist and yet the knowing reader can have no doubt of the “ever after”, highly likely even happily. Also, that story features one of the – for me – scariest and most impressive (especially in ff) TOS aliens: the Talosians. The zine Off Duty 1 offers a splendid art piece by Jeanne Matthews portraying one. I just had to mention that too, because when I turned the page and saw it, I swear I got goose pimples, both from the story twist and the art. (Which is another wonderful example for what a deep impact the combination of story and art can cause. So well done!!) A story I highly recommend. [1]
